An addition on an established Sarasota home has to solve a problem a new house never faces: matching something that already exists. The roofline has to meet the original. The foundation has to account for how the house was built — often decades ago — not only what current code would specify starting from scratch. Done well, the new space reads as part of the house. Done poorly, everyone can tell it was added later.

That is construction work first: structure, connections, systems, and sequencing. Finish selections come after the addition can actually belong to the house.

Peter Basta brings more than twenty-five years of residential construction experience to PrimeEdge Construction. That experience predates the company. It includes his earlier construction career in New Jersey and legitimate Florida and coastal work since. PrimeEdge is owner-led and intentionally hands-on. Peter personally evaluates each project and remains directly involved through construction. His primary role is leading and overseeing the project. He also stays hands-on in the field and will step into the work when something requires his particular experience or skill. Clients have direct access to Peter, with Marissa supporting communication, coordination, estimates and proposals, permitting, and company operations. Depending on the project and the client’s needs, that communication may run through Peter, Marissa, or both.

Why Choose PrimeEdge Construction for Your Home Addition

Peter begins by reviewing how the existing home was built, its apparent condition, and what the addition may require to connect cleanly. When structural capacity or engineering determinations are needed, PrimeEdge coordinates with the appropriate engineering professional. Preliminary pricing may be discussed when enough information is available. More complex scopes often need additional investigation and trade input before pricing can be finalized.

The person evaluating the addition is the same owner who stays on it through construction — leading the work, and stepping in when something needs him in the field.

Bring your designer, or lean on our guidance. Either way, the vision is yours and the execution is ours. PrimeEdge can coordinate an architect, engineer, or designer when an addition starts as an idea. Clients who already have completed plans are equally welcome.

PrimeEdge Construction is licensed and insured in Florida — CRC1334994. Established crews and trade partners perform the specialized work the project requires. PrimeEdge values long-term client relationships. Some clients return for additional work, and some relationships continue after the project is finished.

Home Addition Solutions for Sarasota Homeowners

An addition can affect the existing home in different ways depending on scope, configuration, and how the new construction connects. PrimeEdge evaluates those conditions and coordinates design, engineering, permitting, crews, and trades around the approved scope.

Plumbing and electrical are planned around the approved footprint. Rooflines, siding, and trim are coordinated with the existing structure and the approved design. Selections are guided as the project develops.

A single-room addition and a full second-story expansion have little in common on paper. Both get the same attention to how the new space meets the old one.

Foresight That Prevents Expensive Surprises

Additions often require careful review of the existing structure, systems, design, code, and permitting before pricing can be finalized. PrimeEdge investigates existing conditions to the extent reasonably possible and coordinates trade, design, or engineering input when needed. If a contingency is appropriate for a particular large or complex project, it can be identified in the proposal — it is not treated as a universal feature of every addition.

Our Home Addition Process

Every project is different. PrimeEdge’s process generally moves through seven key stages, from the first conversation through completion. The same framework is described in more detail on our seven-stage renovation process page.

  1. First Contact — PrimeEdge is owner-led and built around direct client communication. Depending on the project and the client’s needs, that first conversation may be with Peter, Marissa, or both.
  2. Consultation — Peter visits the property, reviews existing conditions from a construction perspective, and identifies where structural, design, trade, or engineering input may be needed. Preliminary pricing may be discussed when the scope is clear enough.
  3. Proposal — Following the walkthrough, PrimeEdge prepares a detailed written proposal outlining the project scope and pricing. We review it with you, answer questions, and adjust as the scope is finalized.
  4. Pre-Construction — Permitting requirements, key selections, and longer-lead materials are identified as early as reasonably possible. Known requirements are coordinated before construction begins.
  5. Construction — Clients have direct access to Peter throughout construction, with Marissa supporting communication, coordination, and operations. Clean, orderly jobsites are a PrimeEdge standard. The crews and trades on each project protect the home and leave work areas clean and organized at the end of the day. When an unexpected condition arises, PrimeEdge communicates it clearly, explains the available options, and helps determine the path forward.
  6. Completion — The finished work is reviewed with the homeowner, either in person or through direct communication when circumstances require it. Remaining punch-list items are documented and addressed as part of closeout. The completed space is thoroughly cleaned before final completion.
  7. Aftercare — Every PrimeEdge project is backed by a one-year workmanship warranty, along with the applicable manufacturer warranties on the materials and products used in the project.

An Addition Built to Belong

A generic addition shows itself in the roofline or the siding. PrimeEdge coordinates the new work to read as part of the home’s design, outside and in. Peter stays on the project as the owner who evaluated it — leading and overseeing the work, and stepping in himself when something requires his hands.

FAQs

Neither is required. Bring your designer, or lean on our guidance. Some homeowners arrive with completed architectural plans; others arrive with a sense of the space they need.

PrimeEdge is owner-led. Peter remains directly involved throughout construction — leading and overseeing the project, and stepping into the work when his particular experience is needed. Marissa supports communication and operations. Depending on the project, you may hear from Peter, Marissa, or both.

After the walkthrough, PrimeEdge prepares a detailed written proposal of scope and pricing. Costs vary with square footage, foundation requirements, and finish selections. Every addition is estimated individually.

Timelines depend on scope, permitting, selections, product availability, and conditions. Whether a homeowner can remain in the house depends on scope, the configuration of the existing home, and how the new construction connects to it. Some additions can be substantially isolated from the occupied home. Others require portions of the existing house to be opened. PrimeEdge reviews those conditions and plans the sequence accordingly.

Yes. A home addition stands on its own. There is no requirement to bundle it with a kitchen, bathroom, or whole-home renovation.
